"If your hair suddenly feels different, it's often reflecting something deeper. And while it’s important to address the internal root causes, it’s just as important to be extra gentle with your hair externally, especially when it’s already vulnerable."

Ask Angela - FAQs

Can I use the Extra Gentle on wet and dry hair?

Yes - just add a conditioner or hair mask first when using it wet. This gives extra protection and slip for the brush to glide without tension.

Is brushing wet hair bad for hair loss?

It can gradually weaken hair that has grown out of the scalp, eventually leading to unnecessary breakage - which is exactly why a gentler brush matters here.

What's the best way to treat fairy knots?

Get a trim first to remove existing knots, then focus on prevention - stretched styles like blowouts, twists and braids reduce single-strand tangling. Silk pillowcases and microfibre towels also help minimise friction.

Why is my hair shedding more than usual?

On average we lose 50 to 100 hairs a day - that's completely normal. But when internal factors like hormonal shifts, nutritional deficiency or chronic stress disrupt the hair growth cycle, more follicles move into the shedding phase at once. It usually takes 6 to 12 weeks after a trigger before you notice the change, so the cause is often further back than you'd expect.

Does the type of brush I use really make a difference to hair loss?

It really does. Aggressive detangling puts mechanical stress on the hair shaft and follicle - the pulling force (traction) and friction from the brush can cause hairs still in the growth phase to fall out before they're ready to. A gentler brush that flexes through the hair rather than drags reduces that unnecessary fallout and helps protect the density you have.
